I asked a buddy of mine what’s a good place to go for transmission work & he didn’t hesitate to recommend AAMCO .Errol was highly recommended . Walked in he asked what problems I was having , we looked up a few things . He called me later that day to let me know what all needed to be done . Upon pick up the next day he showed me pics & explained everything that they did to my transmission. I recommend them & will send everyone I know to them for service.
Hats off to these guys, great service and attitudes from the crew. Definitely will continue business with them and will recommend to family and friends.
Took my truck to these guys and they saved the day! What could’ve cost me a lot of money turned out to be something they found and fixed right away and didn’t even charge me. I will use them for all my vehicle needs from now on and would recommend them to anyone! Thanks again
We were on vacation in Orange Beach when our car started acting up on the highway. I did a little "dad research" online and was convinced that it was the transmission slipping. The Nissan dealer couldn't get to it for three and a half days, and we were supposed to be driving back to Tennessee before that. I found AAMCO on N. Davis Hwy and showed up Monday morning. Errol took the car in, had a tech pull the codes and drive it, and came back and told me it wasn't the transmission. Note that this is a transmission shop turning down transmission work. He could have sold me a repair I'd never have known I didn't need, and I live 450 miles away so he'd never see me again either way. He charged me nothing. He wrote down another shop for me and the names of two guys there to ask for. I left knowing what possible non-transmission issues it could be and what it wasn't, which is what let me chase down the real cause. It turned out to be oil that was badly overdue and had turned to sludge. Car runs fine now. I was there about an hour. The phone never stopped and customers kept coming in, including one vendor call that would have tested anybody. He never got short with anybody. Everyone working there seemed to actually like each other, which isn't your everyday repair shop experience. If I could give them 10 stars I would. (I do give myself negative 10 stars for letting our oil turn to sludge though...)
The shop made it right. I am grateful that they made the effort and since then I have returned for them to do additional work on the truck one being an rear axle install with no problems. I usually do business with Errol the store manager and g in my book. Not everyone wants to work on a vehicle this old but they have made some of it new again to be honest. Had them rebuild tranny. 4l60 out of a 90 silverado.Took them three times to get it right. They cut my lines at the radiator and ran a separate cooler. Stupid move as first, I didnt ask for them to do that and second, now my tranny has no way of keeping cool at red lights because the fluid doesnt run through the radiator. It runs through an air cooler. The cut lines at radiator were just kinked over and left. Not capped. Tranny was never right. Slipped around corners and curves. Tranny eventually failed. They took it back reminding me of all the"favors" they were doing. I figured they would be glad to do it since they skimmed an extra grand to do the original rebuild. After being schmoozed for a couple days the owner John and I had a very candid talk. Came down to me threatening to sue( which I'm still considering) and him threatening to sit my truck out to come get it. At the end the tranny is normal. The lines they originally mangled were replaced but bent and routed by an obvious novice. Lines dip down below the pan making them vulnerable. Very sloppy. I wont go back but the owner will be getting a bill for my rental and the re routing of my lines. I honestly thought I was going to a reputable shop known nationwide with a warranty. I had heard the shop had changed owners and since then it's been shit. Bbb is my next stop.
